According to a 1939 letter from Manuel de Falla to María de Cardona: "[This work] was written and adapted by me for the staged performance of the auto [sacramental] La vuelta de Egipto given by our University to commemorate the tercentenary of Lope [de Vega]. The 'Invocation' is mine, while the 'Amen' is by Victoria."4-voice mixed choir.
